BACKGROUND
BACKGROUND
Symmetry is a decentralized Crypto Indices and Actively Managed Funds/Vaults infrastructure layer built on Solana and powered by the Symmetry Engine. A vault - these are like baskets of different digital coins that they can adjust and change based on some set of rules.

The challenge was to design a user-friendly dashboard, allowing users to view information about their held funds and those they manage. Main emphasis was on enhancing the user experience for creating and managing funds effortlessly. The Fund Page provides detailed insights, charts, statistics, and options for minting funds using either USDC deposits with automatic rebalancing or direct deposits of composition assets. The Create Page offers an intuitive platform for users to create on-chain funds, allowing them to choose composition assets, set weights, and incorporate customizable 'Rules' for fund creation. The Analytics Page should have overview & statistics information about the platform, including TVL with historical charts, Total Volume, Funds Created, Funds overall activity, etc...

Disclaimer: This project was embarked on as a design bounty hosted on Superteam Earn where each participator was to come up with a redesign for the Symmetry App and only the winning designs will be implemented.

The major aim of this re-design was to make it easier for non-technical users not just to use Symmetry but also to understand how Crypto Indices and Vaults in Decentralized Finance works.

One of the major problems facing the onboarding of users in the DeFi space and crypto in general is the use of jargon and buzz-words. In order to make it much easier to use, tooltips explaining these terms were used throughout the application.

Tedious data and charts tend to be an eyeworm for the average user so one of my objectives was to give an aesthetic view to otherwise boring an unattractive data representations. Understanding how gnarly data presentation can be, I employed the use of warm colors to make the interface friendlier to the eye

Creating a Vault is no longer “rocket science”, Less visual clutter meant a more objective focused and familiar interface design. Users can set and re-adjust the weights of tokens while creating a vault, see a live simulation of the projected performance of the vault.
Creating a Vault is no longer “rocket science”, Less visual clutter meant a more objective focused and familiar interface design. Users can set and re-adjust the weights of tokens while creating a vault, see a live simulation of the projected performance of the vault.
I set out to make vault composition rules clearer and more understandable. Re-filtering and Re-weight rules also tell symmetry engine how to rebalance your vault composition. I also considered users with more specific needs and this translated into a feature that helps users set up any specific tokens they always want to have in their vault regardless of the Re-balancing settings.

The mobile screens were designed using regular UI patterns in finance apps in order to reduce the mental load and time taken to adapt to the new UI. This helps to engrain unconscious trust.

The design of web3 apps familiar UI patterns in finance applications could significantly enhance user experience. By minimizing cognitive load and facilitating quicker adaptation, users can navigate with confidence and ease. This approach not only fosters a sense of trust but also encourages continued engagement with the app, ultimately leading to greater user satisfaction and loyalty.
